What would Jesus THINK?

This is a blog about radical thought change.

I drive a lot. Many years ago, I would see these bumper stickers "WWJD?", which I learned meant "What would Jesus Do?". I believe the phrase originated in the Christian community as an attempt to encourage people to live in a more Christ-like way. It's an interesting concept to apply in our world today. If Jesus was alive today and living in our world, what would he do?
I found it interesting and amusing and somewhat perplexing at the same time, to notice that some people who had these stickers on their vehicles were some of the most discourteous and rude drivers I encountered!
This leads me to surmise that these drivers likely view the question, WWJD?, in a MACRO way; living like Jesus means going on mission trips, serving at a soup kitchen, running youth groups, fostering children, contributing financially to a cause, etc. I recall a conversation I had with some acquaintances  many years ago. A couple people were admonishing themselves for not "doing more" to serve God. I encouraged them to think about serving God and others differently. I encouraged them to think MICRO - what are the simple acts of love and kindness we can do every single day? I like to think about it on a more basic level - What would Jesus THINK???? because, of course, what he would think, and what thoughts would run through his mind, would determine what he would DO. So, if you really want to think MICRO - look at your thoughts and do they likely match what Christ would think?
If Jesus was living today and drove a vehicle, what would he think about the driving experience? Would he drive the speed limit? Would he obey all traffic laws? Would he let people in front of him or would he cut people off? How would he deal with rude and discourteous drivers? Would Jesus have road rage???????
I believe Jesus would always have compassion. I think Jesus would have the "normal" thoughts and emotions we all have and he would likely become irritated or angry at times. But I believe he would see things through a different lens than many of us do. he would see through a lens of compassion. He would take responsibility for changing his thoughts. It would be a natural thing for him, at times. And it would likely be a struggle, at times. But he would see it as a CHOICE, and a RESPONSIBILITY.

We change the world by taking responsibility for ourselves, on a micro level - for our thoughts. When we choose to think differently, to view life through a lens of compassion, life changes, WE change, the people around us start to change.

Everything starts with thought.
